What is 5G?
During the 2019 consumer electronics show several announcements have been made which strongly suggest an upcoming Industrial Revolution. However, apparently, the key technology which is expected to make the largest impact and which has the potential to usher in a new technological age is 5G technology. There are many people who may suspect that 5G is just a slight improvement on 4G which is already available on many smartphones. Apparently, this is not completely true because according to experts the new technology will introduce eight key areas of technology which is going to be made possible by 5G. Users can expect increased connectivity which will make a substantial impact on the future technological landscape. Some of the most important improvements are 5G will be increased speed and volume. Apparently, peak rates of as high as 10 Gb per second can be expected while the mobile data volumes will run at 10 TB per kilometer. In simple terms, this simply means that data services and sell services will be available everywhere. In fact, Internet access will be accessible on a scale which will amaze people.

5G will make a substantial impact on currently connected devices, mobility and the Internet of things. Even though consumers will have access to a network which is running at increased speeds and which is substantially more reliable, more than 90% less energy will be consumed compared to current 4G networks. 5G will provide the industry with extraordinary benefits because it requires less energy to provide substantially higher efficiency. An additional benefit will be that a variety of services can be implemented a lot quicker than were possible before.

We will see a level of reliability and latency never experienced before. Apparently, 5G would allow for an end to end travel time of only 5 ms. To put that into perspective that is significantly faster than the blink of an eye. Even so, we are looking at an error rate of 0.001. The benefits for people relying on the Internet will be extraordinary. The same thing applies to businesses, corporations, the global economy, and industries. Nevertheless, substantial upgrades will have to be done to network density, fiber systems as well as real estate availability. It is the technology that will effectively connect the entire planet providing it with the better Internet at faster speeds and according to service providers, this technology could be expected to be introduced very soon.
