Manufacturing industries play a significant role in today’s economy, contributing to financial growth, prosperity, national security, and technological innovations. Industries provide a lot of innovative products which can be used for the national security or development of a country. Also, these industries increase the technological level of a country to compete with the world. So, manufacturing is of great importance for a country and in this article, we briefly address some of the major issues with the manufacturing process that should be resolved before a successful manufacturing can be done. They include lack of skilled labor, technology advancement, changing regulation, etc.

1.Shortage of skilled labor

The manufacturing process is nothing without the labor, and the labor should have proper skills; otherwise, it will create problems for the manufacturing process. Automation systems and robotics fill this gap but humans are still required due to their unique ability to solve problems, analyze issues and manage the output.


The finding of skilled labor is very difficult. This problem can be solved by training the unskilled people through robust training programs.  The other way of solving this problem is to remain in touch with the skilled workforce through social media or other communicating media to attract professionals.

2.Poor time management

When you produce a product, you have to deliver it on time. The speed of production and your efficiency can make your success or failure. When you manufacture something, you are up against the clock. Your work is efficient only if you use an efficient technology and an efficient team.


Nowadays, there is some management software available in the market, which helps you to delegate tasks and set goals according to a given time.

3.lack of communication

The other problem involved in the manufacturing of a product is the lack of communication between the project manager and the team. Industrial tasks are incredibly more complex and a project can collapse without the right channel of communication.


To solve this problem, consider a schedule for weekly or even short daily meetings with your team so that you can check objectives and the progress. By doing this, all the team members know where the others stand at that moment and gain the same understanding on the progress and its setbacks. This also makes them responsible for the work and its deadline.

4.Taking too many projects

While multitasking has its own benefits, it isn’t always good, especially in manufacturing. When your workers are under the pressure to juggle different projects and switch tasks frequently, mistakes will happen and as a result, your production will slow down.


  • Closely monitor and measure the progress of each project.
  • Reduce the number of projects in progress let’s say by 25%.
  • Re-measure the progress of the remaining projects
  • Rearrange your workers’ works according to their willingness and skill in any of the projects because they may be more productive per project. This helps you move ahead at a higher rate than a multitasking team.

5.Carelessness or unsafe practices

Workplace safety is always an issue in manufacturing industries. If you and your team don’t take basic precautionary measures, this will lead to accidents. Your workforce will decrease and no one would be willing to come to your industry.


Your workers should be well trained and have practice in dealing with any critical conditions. Also, all safety equipment should be professionally inspected on a regular basis.

6.Planning without input

Planning a project needs the collaboration and input from all people involved. Failing to get feedback from your workers can increase the workload on them and this can slow the productivity. In addition, if you don’t meet your customers’ expectations, you may lose your future business.


Always consults your workers even during the planning stages. Assign them the tasks and then regularly get their feedback. This will ensure you that you can meet your customers’ expectations.


Sometimes you yourself may become a big obstacle to the production. If you don’t give any space to your workers, they don’t work efficiently.


  • Assign tasks to your workers,
  • Give room to them to complete those tasks,
  • Then take feedback from them.
